I grew up in Portland, and I’ve lived here for most of my life. I began building professional relationships as a student at the University of Oregon. I ran my own painting company and networked with several people in the Portland metro area. After graduation, I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, so I became involved with the health insurance industry. I immediately saw the potential for growth. In 2006, I created Century Benefits with Andrew Eachon. Our goals included creating a brokerage that had long-term, happy, and educated clientele; this strategy has been extremely successful for us.
I also like to stay active in my community. I network with organizations like the Portland Business Alliance, Northwest Networking Professionals, Young Professionals of Portland, Yelp, and Schmooze PDX. I am also involved with the Grant High School and University of Oregon Alumni Associations. In my personal time, I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, running, basketball, football, and spending time with my extended family. My family lives in the Portland metro area, and we enjoy gatherings of at least 40 people every month. If the weather is sunny, I spend a lot of time working on my old home in Northeast Portland.
I have been an active professional in the health insurance industry since 2005. In 2006, Joel Beaudoin and I opened our own agency, giving clients access to multiple companies and the freedom to select and compare pricing and benefits. My goal is to educate consumers on the inner workings of health insurance and help them make optimal decisions. I am an advocate for Health Savings Accounts and simple health insurance plans that are affordable, yet provide adequate coverage. As a natural number-cruncher and self-proclaimed “bargain shopper,” I effectively channel these investigative interests into my position as a broker. This allows me to find the best customized health insurance plan and solution for any client situation.
During the winter I fill my non-work hours as a Portland Trailblazers season ticket holder, skiing nearby slopes, and visiting the Portland Art Museum as a member. If the weather is warm, you’ll find me backpacking throughout the Northwest, helping out on the family farm in Idaho, or fishing anywhere that has a bite.
